Flamengo gave their title push a real boost on Thursday 29 October 2026. Pedro and Samuel Lino scored two goals each as the leaders beat rivals Vasco 4-1, and the result sent them three points clear of Palmeiras at the top of the table.

How the goals fell

Pedro put Flamengo ahead in the 10th minute. The lead did not last long: Alan Lescano equalised for Vasco in the 15th.

Pedro struck again in the 41st minute to restore the lead. That one came from a rebound, after Vasco keeper Léo Jardim made a big save from Samuel Lino and the ball fell for Pedro to finish.

Samuel Lino then got goals of his own in the second half, scoring in the 53rd and 85th minutes to make it 4-1.

The match was played at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos, which is Botafogo's home ground.

What the table says now

The win took Flamengo to 73 points. Palmeiras sit second on 70, so the gap at the summit is now three points.

That is the headline number for Nito. A one-sided scoreline is fun, but what lasts from a night like this is the change at the top, and Flamengo now have a cushion over the side chasing them.

Nito thinks three points is a useful margin rather than a decisive one: it means Flamengo can absorb a slip without losing top spot, but it does not let them stop counting.

Two strikers, one shared moment

What Nito enjoyed most is how the two goalscorers' evenings overlapped. Pedro's second goal was born from Samuel Lino's effort, the shot Léo Jardim kept out before Pedro pounced on the rebound.

So Samuel Lino did not just score twice; he also had a hand in one of Pedro's goals. When the attackers feed off each other like that, a side can trouble a defence from more than one direction, which is exactly the kind of pattern Nito likes to keep an eye on as a run-in develops.

What's next

The immediate question is whether Flamengo can protect their three-point lead over Palmeiras in the coming rounds. Every match from here carries extra weight at the top of the table.

Nito will be watching two things: whether Pedro and Samuel Lino keep sharing the goals, and whether Palmeiras can respond to slipping three behind. The title picture now has a clear leader, but not a settled one.
